David Menough – David grew up in southwest Denver and graduated from University of Northern Colorado with degrees in Education and Psychology. He taught in Ranchester, Wyoming and counseled socially challenged youth in Sheridan, Wyoming in the late 70’s early 80’s. He discovered and married his beautiful bride, Kathy, in the 80’s while working as a representative for major appliance and home electronics manufacturers. David and Kathy have two strong, beautiful, independent, and successful daughters, Caitlin and Emily.

In 1992, David and Kathy opened the Wild Birds Unlimted Nature Shop in Arvada. During their 30 years as store owners, they have earned national and international awards for their performance and contributions to the community. Bringing People and Nature Together has been their life-long passion and joy.

David, along with his brother Scott, have hosted the BirdTalk radio show for 30  years on Denver AM radio stations. They found their home on 710 KNUS. They have had the opportunity to work with many broadcasters along their careers and have found that none come close to the professionalism and welcoming attitude that has been enjoyed with their friends at KNUS.

Dean Seifert - Dean is the newest member of the Avian Amigos, having purchased the Denver Wild Birds Unlimited store from Scott and Sandy Menough in 2020 and most recently purchasing David and Kathy’s store in Arvada. Dean and his wife, Tina, moved back to Denver in 2020 after six years in Seattle, Washington, where Dean worked with Amazon in leadership roles in the Payments and Alexa teams. They opened a brand new store in Highlands Ranch in November 2021. While Dean and Tina are new to birding, they have embraced the birding and raptor community with excitement and curiosity. Talking with customers and staff members every day about the wonder of Colorado’s bird species and the variety of wildlife has been a wonderful educational experience.

Dean and Tina have three grown (almost), mature (sometimes) and independent (ahem!) children - Cameron, Jordan and Zach. Cameron and Jordan work with the Wild Birds organization on a daily basis, with Cameron as the Operations Manager across all three stores and Jordan as the Manager of the Highlands Ranch store. Zach is a junior at Colorado State University studying business and marketing.

Dean and Tina hail from Bismarck, North Dakota, and moved to Denver in the early nineties. Dean has worked with financial and payments companies over the past thirty years, including local Denver companies such as First Data Corporation and Western Union. Dean and Tina moved to Dublin, Ireland, in 2004 to assist in opening the Western Union international headquarters. This was an incredible opportunity to travel throughout Europe with the kids, allowing them to experience different cultures, languages and customs.
